Your floor can move up and down.
Ceramic tile popping noise.
Recently first we started hearing popping noise where one of us was standing it did few times when we moved our location.
Either the tiler used the wrong type of adhesive for concrete floors or he did not ensure the concrete floor was dust free and cohesive before spreading the adhesive.
One reason the tiles could be making noise when you step on them is that the tile might have debonded in that spot so when you walk on those tiles they move and make that sound.
The most likely explanation is that the tile adhesive is no longer sticking to the concrete below and or there are hollow areas beneath the tiles where there is insufficient tile adhesive.
Ceramic tiles vitrified tiles and porcelain tiles etc.
This tile defect is known as buckled tiles.
So it s probably 8 to 10 different areas there that will pop from time to time.
And it s not the same spot all the time.
There are different kinds of forces that can put stress on a tile installation.
Hopefully you have extra tiles because even if you can remove it without breaking the thinset needs to be removed from the tile and subfloor.
This defect is also known as pop up tiles or tile tenting.
Last year in response to questions in parliament on.
It s probably within they re alternating so that they re not all lined up together.
If proper care is not taken while laying the same.
Chances are the substrate configuration and installation wasn t done correctly.
The perfectly flat tiled floor may buckle up in the different seasons due to temperature variations improper installation of tiles and various other factors.
Today i have noticed near the washing machine area there is a crack in the grout not in the tile.
The grout coming out is an indication that the floor is not structurally stable enough and has excessive deflection.
The noises could be an indication that you have too much deflection in the floor and that the tile bond coat is not bonded as well as it should be.
The reason it may have debonded might be because you don t have movement joints at the perimeter of tile installation where it transitions to the walls or in other locations where there should be a movement joint.
It s a high traffic area and there s various areas on it when you walk over it it makes a popping noise.
This is known as deflection.
Hello 2 months ago in our new extension we had new ceramic floor tiles in our kitchen s wooden ply floor.
There s a number of reasons for this but the bottom line is that it must be removed and relayed.
Mr wong said that natural wear and tear as the moisture in cement screed evaporates over the year can also lead to tiles cracking and popping.
Then it stopped and now occasionally we hear a loud popping noise.
